Scene 1 (Pages 4-7)
This scene is when Clarisse questions Guy about why he is a firefighter, and has he ever read any of the books he burned, and does he have any books, etc. The reason I chose this scene is because it tells you about what kind of person Clarisse was. This is one of the only scenes with Clarisse in it because she dies early on in the book. This scene moves me because it is saying that if something is wrong, stand up for what you think is right. This reminds me of the abolitionists that fought for the civil rights of blacks.
Scene 4 (Pages 10-11)
This scene is about how Millie tried to commit suicide. I chose this scene because it made me think of how delicate life really is. This scene made me question the motives of what Millie was doing by eating all of the pills. They said that a machine has taken all of the darkness out of her, but how did the darkness get in her in the first place? This scene brought up new ideas in my head.
Scene 3 (Page 47)
This scene is when Millie doesn't seem to care about Montag killing an old woman. The reason I chose this scene is because it shows how good a citizen Millie is. She is so perfect, when a citizen dies with her books, it seems okay. This just goes to show how far apart Millie and Guy are.
Scene 4 (Pages 53-54)
This scene is when Millie finds out that Montag was hiding a book under his pillow. I chose this scene because it shows how an author can make the story come out however he wants to. I say this because I thought that Montag was going to get away with stealing the book, but Millie found out: Ray Bradbury twisted my understanding of the book.
